Ancient Pompeii

The ancient Roman city of Pompeii was founded in in the 6th or 7th century BC and flourished to more than 20,000 people with complex infrastructures in place before the city was engulfed in volcanic lava when nearby Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD.

Here's your chance to see the ruins of a city that laid the foundations for modern social life. Upon arrival to Pompeii your archeological guide will share interesting facts and stories about the city, the people and the culture as you walk through the city relics. Observe well-preserved thermal baths, the gymnasium, amphitheater, the House of the Faun and more. Inside Lupanar you will see frescoes and the beds used in the brothel. Visit the Basilica where justice was administered and trade was conducted.

The Macellum, a marketplace and focal point of the city, offers an up close and personal look at daily life including food remains, paintings and everyday objects. As you walk around you will notice plaster casts of a few of the 3,000 inhabitants that remained in the city and paid for their decision with their lives.
